Research Interests
Cybersecurity, Networking, Autonomic
Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Modeling and Simulation, and Data Analysis
Dr. Youssif B. Al-Nashif has held a joint appointment in the Computer Science
Department and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department since August 2015. He served as
the Academic Program Coordinator (APC) for the Department
of Computer Science from September 2015 to December 2017 and the Department of Computer Science
founding Department Chair from 2018 to 2020.
He came to Florida Polytechnic University from
Old Dominion University (Norfolk,
Virginia), where he was the founding director of the Center for Cyber-Security Education and
Research. He also served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering at Old Dominion University.
Before
that, he was an Assistant Research Professor at the University of Arizona -Tucson for five years. He
was the site research director for the NSF Center for Cloud and Autonomic Computing (NSF-CAC) at the
University of Arizona from
2009 to 2014. His industry experience includes serving as a Computer Research Scientist for AVIRTEK
Inc., located in Tucson, Arizona.
